Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse

Where there has been trauma, particularly trauma that involves one person sexually abusing another, then the victim is often left in a state of shame.  It becomes impossible to speak of what has happened.  The victim becomes locked in a psychological state where the pain and distress of their experience is amplified by the sense of shame.  Finding a way to speak about the experience is the beginning not just of opening up the secret that has been buried away, but also of putting the shame back to the abuser.  It is good news that the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse is finally getting under way.
