A death cannot be told as a single story, everyone involved loses someone in a different way. These losses cannot be shared, instead the bereaved find themselves adrift upon different currents.
“One of the consequences of my bereavement was that I lost my voice. Death introduced an anxiety and fear into life, a fear which had existed before, but which, after death became more intense. I was scared of what might happen next. Scared that I was at risk, that I was alone in an unsafe world. I suffered these fears alone and I lost my voice.”
